Knife Sharpening & Repair Services
Japanese Knives Select offers sharpening and repair services for all our knives. Rest assured that all knives purchased from us include the initial sharpening, unlike many knife merchants who charge for this service. You will receive your knives at their top sharpness! We use both natural and synthetic Japanese water stones and sharpen all knives by hand.
All steel knives require sharpening periodically. How often you’ll need to sharpen yours depends on frequency of use, the type of cutting board used and what you cut with it. While many Japanese professional chefs sharpen their knives frequently, most home cooks can expect to sharpen theirs on an as-needed basis. You are welcome to send your knife to us for sharpening. If you already have a professional sharpener you trust, it is fine to bring your hand forged knife to them. Also, please take note that using a honing rod does not sharpen your blade, it simply re-aligns the blade and an edge will need to be re-established at some point. How it works.
If you would like to send in your Japanese Knives Select knife for professional repair or water stone sharpening services, please email a full picture of your knife, both sides, so our sharpening can give you an estimate. After receiving our reply, select the option(s) from the product menu below. Basic sharpening begins at $35. : Info@japanaeseknivesselect.com

Please email a full picture of your knife (both sides) so our sharpener can ascertain if any services besides basic sharpening are needed, i.e. tip or blade chips, etc. info@japaneseknivesselect.com

We will contact you within 48 hours detailing recommended repair and sharpening services.

After receiving our reply regarding recommended sharpening and/or repair services, please use the drop down menu to select sharpening and any other repair services you would like to move forward on. After you place your order, we will provide the address to where you send your knife.

Make sure you send us the knife properly packaged! We suggest using packing peanuts or bubble wrap to ensure that your knife is not damaged in the shipping process. Japanese Knives Select is not responsible for knives that arrive to us damaged, so take the time to safely prepare your knife for shipping. Japanese Knives Select will perform the sharpening or repair service to the highest standards. Rest assured that your knife will be in good hands.
5.
After we finish with your knife, we’ll ship it back to you and let you know it’s on its way. The cost of this shipping is included in the price of the service, so no additional payment is needed.
